What happens when you turn down a Bentley GTC Limited Edition? You get cursed and go to jail like the branded notorious hotel heiress and Simple Life diva, Paris Hilton. Just kidding, Bentley GTC— which is by the way the masterpiece of Bentley Motors Limited, the subsidiary of Volkswagen, producer of high quality VW head gaskets — has nothing to do with it.

As a matter of fact some people think that it’s just right that Ms. Hilton refused the Limited Edition Bentley since it’s now owned by a more “responsible” owner – Puspa Portier, the wife of a romantic Dubai businessman, Glenn Portier.

The hotel heiress and branded DUI princess was ordered to spend 45 days in jail. The order came after a Los Angeles judge ruled Ms. Hilton for violating her probation relating to alcohol-related reckless driving.

According to Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer, he believes that the 26-year-old Simple Life diva has intentionally disobeyed the law by driving while her license was suspended. Judge Sauer has ordered Ms. Hilton to report to jail on June 5. Judge Sauer further stated, “I think she has wanted to disregard everything that was said and continued to drive no matter what. The probation is revoked. Forty-five days in jail.”

Judge Sauer has come up with his decision after a two-hour hearing wherein Ms. Hilton has pleaded that she was unaware that her driving privileges had been suspended when she was pulled over for driving without headlights last February 27.

The hotel heiress even put the blame on her publicist by saying that Elliot Mintz has told her that she was permitted to drive for work-related reasons. Ms Hilton told the judge, “I did not want to break the law. I did what I was told. I would never drive just because I want to. I follow the law and I respect the law. From now on I want to pay complete attention to everything. I just want to say I’m sorry.”

The judge however was not convinced by Ms. Hilton’s alibi and said that he believes that the hotel heiress is very much aware of her driving restrictions and added that Paris has chosen to completely ignore the notice given to her by a police officer that she had signed during an earlier traffic stop last January which notifies her regarding her suspended license.

The whole court drama has brought Hilton’s mother Ms. Kathy to yell at the prosecutor saying “you’re pathetic”.

Attorney Howard Weitzman, lawyer of Ms. Hilton said that the decision was unfair since it singled out Paris for being a celebrity. He also said, “To sentence Paris Hilton to 45 days in jail is inappropriate and borders on ludicrous. It is clear that she has been selectively targeted for prosecution for who she is. I think she was honest in her testimony. We do intend to appeal to the judge and to a higher court to modify the sentence.”

Ms. Hilton was placed on three years probation earlier this year for pleading no contest which is equivalent by the way to a guilty plea. This is in relation to the alcohol-related reckless driving after a September 2006 arrest in Hollywood. As though she has not learned from previous mistakes, in late February she did it again. She was pulled over on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood for driving without headlights. She was driving a $190,000 blue Bentley that was impounded by the police. It was also during that incident when she was discovered to be driving on a suspended license.

2008 Bentley Brooklands Phenomenon

The 2007 Geneva Motor Show is where the Bentley Brooklands debut took place. The British arm of Volkswagen assured that this new handsome coupe will be the strongest and the most exclusive model of all Bentley’s creation.

The new four-seat grand tourer was apparently inspired by its racing heritage, according to Bentley. The brand’s most powerful V-8 engine, a twin turbocharged 6.75-litre delivers to it 530 horsepower and 774 pound-feet of torque, while in the Arnage sedan, the engine makes 500 horsepower. Brooklands, with a six-speed automatic will team up with sedan’s engine. Semi-manual shifting and stability control will be integrated into the vehicle’s fantastic package.

Kankkunen Breaks Ice Speed World Record With Bentley Continental Gt

Bentley, Volkswagen Group’s British luxury vehicle brand proved that the Continental GT is really a high-performance grand tourer coupe. The Bentley Continental GT made a record-breaking attempt early this March when it runs on the frozen sea in Finland reaching a top speed of about 200 mph, breaking the current world ice speed record set by a Bugatti EB110 Supersport, which was also made in the same Finnish location. Aboard the Bentley Continental GT is the popular Finnish rally car driver and four-time World Rally Champion, Juha Kankkunen.

Kankkunen was so proud of his achievement and said: “The Bentley performed impeccably. I was amazed how stable and secure it felt at these high speeds, despite the track’s rough and icy surface being scattered with powdery snow. I even managed to stop the car from its top speed within 600 metres.”

Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn, Member of the Board of Bentley Engineering, also commented:

“Juha’s record-breaking achievement is just what we’ve come to expect from some of our more adventurous owners. It shows that the spirit of the famous Bentley Boys lives on and is still harnessed by drivers with sufficient skill and courage to extract the full potential of our motor cars in extreme conditions – though, naturally, we would not recommend our other owners try to attempt such high speeds on sheet ice!” he added.

Juha Kankkunen, along with his team went to the location and endured the 30 degrees Celsius

of low temperature. Kankkunen drove on to the thick ice and his team measured the rally car’s speed. After the record-breaking success, he and his team checked the Continental GT and Kankkunen decided to once again attempt to increase his acceleration and make a higher recorded speed. He continued attempting to achieve a top speed of 206 mph for few days before realizing that accelerating that much is impossible because of terrain factors like rough track, and snow covered areas.

Before the actual record attempt, Bentley made some few technical modifications on the Continental GT to cope up with extreme low temperature in the area and for some safety reasons. A roll cage was installed on the vehicles along with special snow tires to obtain maximum grip and traction when driving into the slippery and snowy track. Bentley retained the powertrain features but during the record breaking attempt, the rally car runs on a non-standard fuel to suit the low temperature condition at the location.

Meanwhile, the Bentley Continental GT grand tourer coupe is equipped with a monstrous 6.0L W12 engine under the hood featuring twin turbochargers. It is coupled with a six speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted gearshift paddles powering the all-wheel-drive configuration. The grand tourer coupe also comes with standard quality Bentley parts from Volkswagen, just like those VW Corrado parts for the VW hatchback model.

Bentley Continental Gt Smashes World Ice Speed Record

One of the major subsidiaries of Volkswagen, Bentley, has given Europe’s largest automaker something to celebrate about when it smashed the world ice speed record last week with an average speed of 199.86 mph (321.65 km/h) on the frozen sea off the coast of Finland.

The almost standard four-wheel-drive Bentley Continental GT which is privately owned by the world rally star has been able to topple down the previous ice speed record by a Bugatti EB110 Supersport recording 184.14 mph (296.34 km/h) set at the same location.

Kankkunen’s team bear the minus 30 degrees Celsius temperature on the 10 km section of frozen sea, 50 km north of Oulu in western Finland. Kankkunen’s team had to make it over 70 cm thick of ice which took them around 5km to hit optimum speed before finally reaching the start of the marked kilometer where his speed was measured. Despite the incomparable gripping power and traction of the Continental GT still it experienced a wheel spin above 120 mph.

But after a brief check up by the team, the Continental GT continued and drove the measured kilometer for the second time to accomplish the judge’s requirements reaching an amazing 205 mph (330 km/h). The team have not stopped there and continued the next day to see whether they could surpass their record and they did. They were able to reach an even higher peak velocity of 206 mph (331km/h). But as much as the team would like to continue with their pursuit they were held back due to the increasingly rough and snow covered track.

According to Kankkunen, “The Bentley performed impeccably. I was amazed how stable and secure it felt at these high speeds, despite the track’s rough and icy surface being scattered with powdery snow. I even managed to stop the car from its top speed within 600 meters.”

The Bentley Continental GT that was used was a modified one but the Kankkunen ensured that the alterations done on the Bentley were kept to a minimum and for safety reasons a rollcage was fitted along with Nokian snow tires. Various aerodynamic tweaks were also made but the powertrain was never altered despite of the fact that the car runs non-standard fuel with matching calibration to cope with the extreme temperatures.

Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn, Member of the Board, Engineering said that the record-breaking achievement of the Bentley Continental GT is something that they have expected especially since its owner is the rally record star Juha. “It shows that the spirit of the famous Bentley Boys lives on and is still harnessed by drivers with sufficient skill and courage to extract the full potential of our motor cars in extreme conditions—though naturally, we would not recommend our other owners try to attempt such high speeds on sheet ice!”

The record-breaking achievement of the Bentley Continental GT also implies the remarkable quality of Volkswagen vehicles which streams to every component equipped in every VW masterpiece such as the VW coil springs or VW coilovers. Contrary to what most of you may think this is not one of those Paris Hilton news. Fortunately for us we will only be discussing one of Ms. Hilton’s headline-hitting Bentleys.

The Dh1.2 million Bentley GTC—a product of Europe’s largest automaker and producer of VW C.V. boot — and was previously owned by hotel heiress Paris Hilton is now owned by a romantic Dubai-based businessman. The limited edition super car is one of the 50 ever produced by Bentley.

Unfortunately the star of the Simple Life did not like the white interior of the supercar and has refused to take the car. A businessman from Denmark by the name of Glenn Portier has heard of the news and decided to buy the Limited Edition Bentley as a Valentine’s gift for his wife, Puspa. Glenn said, “My wife loves beautiful things and I knew she would appreciate this.”

There has been previous news that the hotel heiress has a Bentley collection. She lost one in a poker game and another one in a car accident wherein she was charged with a DUI or Driving under the influence offense.

The Bentley that was refused by Ms. Hilton is getting plenty of attention as it cruises the streets of Dubai. It also became a member of the Portier family cars at Arab run with Glenn having an Aston Martin Vantage, his daughter Diana an AMG SLK 55 Mercedes and his wife Puspa with her new Limited Bentley GTC.

Puspa excitedly said, “I always get stopped while driving my car around Jumeirah. The local kids want to know about the car. It is such a fluid car, I love it.”

There have been various reactions to the refusal of Ms. Hilton of the Bentley but most of them are glad that the supercar is now on the hand of a much responsible owner/driver. • In November 2005, Stavros Niarchos, Ms. Hilton’s boyfriend crashed her Bentley GTC into a truck.

• April 2006—the hotel heiress lost her favorite $200,000 (Dh734,600) Bentley GTC in a poker game, at a casino in Las Vegas.

• September 2006— Ms. Hilton was arrested for driving under the influence, even though she claimed that the high alcohol content in her blood was caused by not eating during a long day of making a music video.

• January 2007— Ms. Hilton pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving which has a lesser charge than driving under the influence. Placed on 36 months’ probation and ordered to pay fines.

• February 2007—Ms. Hilton was pulled over and cited for driving on a suspended license. The hotel heiress was spotted driving her Bentley convertible along Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles without her headlights on. Police impounded the car. Paris had to call a friend to drop her home.

The New car of Paris

The hotel heiress was recently spotted driving a brand new Spyker C8 Spyder which was given to her as a gift from the Bullrun 2007. The DUI princess will drive the supercar in an RSVP only, week long, cross-country road race that would start from Montreal to Key West. The public is being warned.
